BARBANACOLI
Azienda Agricola Barbanacoli
In 2020, islander Diego Taranto and Frenchwoman Clara Schwartzenberg took over the cultivation of 3 hectares of vines on Salina, one of the seven volcanic islands in the Aeolian archipelago off the coast of Sicily.
They named the estate after the valley where the vines are located, BARBANACOLI, reflecting their concern for the terroir, its tradition and its transmission.
Their aim is to express all the subtleties of this exceptional terroir through wines that combine cleanliness and elegance.
A Young Estate
Old Vines
The vineyard began its history at the end of the 1970s. Pino Carrà, a long-serving commander, planted autochthonous grape varieties, always cultivated according to organic farming standards.
The vineyard is co-planted, and we'll find the different native grape varieties - Aeolian and Sicilian - alternating on the same valley slopes and terraces. It's a mix that reflects the freedom of the Comandant, to whom we pay tribute with our Bianco del Comandante cuvée (see Our Wines).
